Riding safely & local rules
Draft, pending owner review. This text is being finalised and may change before it is confirmed.
Ride like a local
- Follow all traffic laws: stop at stop signs and yield to pedestrians.
- Wear the helmet we provide. Riders under 16 are required by North Carolina law to wear a helmet on public roads and paths.
- Lock your bike whenever you are not riding it.
Beaches: check the town’s rules first
E-bikes are not allowed on the public beach in Oak Island at any time — Town of Oak Island Ordinance 28-5 prohibits electric assist bicycles and other personal transportation devices on public beach areas, including Lockwood Folly Inlet / The Point. (Town of Oak Island beach rules (opens in a new tab))
Rules differ in each town. Before riding anywhere other than roads and paths, check the current rules for the town you are in. We are happy to point you toward great places to ride.
